The overall aim of recruitment and selection process of the Department of Transport is to externally obtain, at minimum cost, the number and quality of people required to fulfil the business needs of the Department.
At present, the Public Appointments Service has primary responsibility for the selection of most staff for posts in the Civil Service. These posts are subject to any Department of Finance policies on public sector numbers that are in operation at that time.
