The Road Transport Operator Licensing Unit (RTOL) is committed to meeting the target of granting licences within 10 working days of application, and adding, substituting or deleting vehicles on your licence within 5 working days of application, subject to all appropriate documentation being in order.
This section includes a register of all currently licensed operators and their transport managers, along with a list of the vehicles authorised on their licences. (There are separate registers for haulage and passenger operators.) Consignors are required by law to ensure that any operator they engage is currently licensed. All vehicles operated in the transport business must be authorised on the licence. The registers are updated on a fortnightly basis.
