Marine Notice No. 18 of 2008

NOTICE TO ALL SHIPOWNERS, FISHING VESSEL OWNERS, AGENTS, SHIPMASTERS, PASSENGER SHIP MASTERS, SKIPPERS, FISHERMEN, YACHTSMEN AND SEAFARERS

Further to the Marine Notice No. 4 of 2008 the Department of Transport wishes to advise that 10 tubular steel piles are installed in the seabed at a location approximately 300 metres south west of Greencastle harbour.  The piles are located up to 150 metres from the County Donegal shoreline.  The piles extend in height 2.9 metres above the level of mean high water springs and are part of ongoing works, which will continue, for approx 1 year.

These ten piles are fixed hazards to navigation.

Each of the two outermost (southerly) piles is marked by a yellow X top mark fitted with radar reflector and flashing yellow light (FL Y 5s).  The other piles are located inshore of these two marked piles.

For safety reasons mariners are instructed to stay clear of the piles and not to travel between the special marks and the County Donegal shoreline.

This Marine Notice supersedes Marine Notice No. 4 of 2008, which is hereby withdrawn.
