Rules of the Road

The Rules of the Road is produced by the Department with the purpose of setting out clearly and concisely the duties, responsibilities and prohibitions which road traffic law imposes upon all road users. It also promotes safety and courtesy in the use of our roads in accordance with the law.

A copy of the Rules of the Road can be purchased through any bookseller or directly from the Government Publications Sale Office, Sun Alliance House, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2.

should be worn by front and rear passengers


Pedestrians

Be Safe Be Seen. Wear an armband and walk on the right hand side of the road facing on-coming traffic
