There were no Bills passed by the Houses of the Oireachtas since 1997 which deal specifically with Aer Lingus or with the establishment of a pension fund by Aer Lingus. However, the Government decision on April 15th last approved the re-drafting of the Aer Lingus Bill 2000 to provide for the establishment of an ESOP and the statutory framework to facilitate a private sector investment process as well as the establishment of new pension scheme(s).
The legislation is currently being drafted and is expected to be finalised over the next few weeks.
