To ask the Minister for Transport if his attention has been drawn to the file in his Department relating to difficulties with Luas, which was the subject of a meeting some months ago with the then Minister and the residents of Forest Lawns, Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, Dublin 24; if he will seek assurances from the Luas team that the genuine concerns of these residents are being addressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

                               REPLY

I am aware of the issues in relation to Luas raised with my predecessor by residents at Forest Lawns and Kingswood Heights, Dublin 24.

The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) have assured me that they are endeavouring to address the concerns the residents expressed in a meeting with my predecessor in April, 2002.

I understand that the work involved and all other works carried out by the RPA in this area are in compliance with the appropriate conditions set out in the Light Railway Order for this Line and, where relevant, have been approved by South Dublin County Council.
