Work on the construction of the Luas system is progressing satisfactorily and is within the budget of euro 675m approved for the project in May, 2001. The most recent report on physical progress on the project is contained in the sixth report of the Light Rail Advisory and Action Group dated February 2002 which was presented to me recently. A copy has been placed in the Oireachtas Library. The line from Tallaght to Connolly Station is on target for completion in October 2003 and the Sandyford to St. Stephens Green line is due for completion in December 2003. Passenger services on both lines will commence shortly after construction has been completed.
