The Railway Procurement Agency was set up under the Transport (Railway Infrastructure ) Act 2001 which was enacted by the Oireachtas in 2001. The rationale for the establishment of the Agency was set out in my predecessors second stage speech to Dail Eireann in 2001 (Ref. Parliamentary Debates Vol. 542 of 18 October 2001). I will arrange to have a copy sent to the Deputy.
