As the Deputy is aware from my reply to Question No. 82 on 16th October last it is expected that all the projects in the rail, road and aviation sectors which are being funded under the National Development Plan will be completed.
Some projects may run beyond the time limit of the Plan but it is not possible to identify them at this stage as completion of the NDP Programme will be dependent on funding levels and the prevailing budgetary and economic situation over the coming years. A review of the NDP will be undertaken next year.
The 2003 Estimates for my Department show the significant investment that is being made in the provision of transport infrastructure and clearly demonstrates the Governments strong ongoing commitment to the NDP Programme and to maintaining a high level of investment in infrastructural projects. I would also like to refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No.383 on the 19th of this month where I dealt in detail with the original and revised costs of the NDP programme.
