My Department has not instructed local authorities in relation to the content of their Development Plans.  The preparation and adoption of Local Development Plans is a matter for local authorities in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000.  Local Development Plans must include, inter alia, objectives relating to the provision of transport infrastructure and may include reservations for relief roads and by-passes.
