Major national routes being closed due to accident

To ask the Minister for Transport if he has considered the issuing of national guidelines (details supplied) to ensure that major national routes do not remain closed for up to ten hours as was the case following a recent accident; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The management of traffic following accidents on national roads are a matter for the Gardai and the relevant local authority. I have no plans to issue guidelines for the management of traffic following accidents on national roads.
