Answered by the Minister for Transport (Martin Cullen)

A review of the national and regional road classification system as set out in Statutory Instrument (S.I.) 209 of 1994: Roads Act, 1993 (Declaration of National Roads) Order, 1994 and S.I. 400 of 1994: Roads Act, 1993 (Declaration of Regional Roads) Order, 1994 is currently underway. It is designed to update the Statutory Instruments to take account of road improvements and route changes since 1994. The classification of the Cremartin/Castleblayney road, inter alia, will be reviewed in the update. It is anticipated that the update will be concluded later on this year.

In view of the foregoing, a meeting with a deputation from Monaghan County Council is not proposed.
