I  propose to answer questions 279, 280, 281, 282, 283, 291, 293, 297, 299, 301, 302 and 310 together.

I announced a new Transport Investment Programme, TRANSPORT 21 on Tuesday 1st November.  This ambitious programme underlines the Governments commitment to develop a world-class transport system for the 21st century. The Minister for Finance and I engaged extensively on the preparation of this landmark framework which involves the investment of over €34 billion in current prices in the 10 year period 2006 to 2015.

I am including a table which will show the completion dates of each Metro / Luas project. The table also shows the Metro / Luas projects which will be funded by public private partnership.

The commencement date for each project is a matter for the Railway Procurement Agency, subject to compliance with the relevant statutory provisions and procedures.

As each project will be subject to a competitive tendering process, it would not be in the public interest to disclose the estimated cost of individual projects.
