This notice supersedes Marine Notice No. 11 of 1998.
The Department of the Marine and Natural Resources has been notified that a wave data gathering buoy has been deployed off Rosslare Harbour, Co. Wexford since 31 August 1999, and will remain in position for at least 12 months.
The buoy is moored approximately 5.5km to the North East of Rosslare Harbour at Latitude: 52 ° 16.53 N, Longitude: 06° 15.63 W.
The buoy is sensitive to motion and is not to be made fast to under any circumstances as its internal mechanism will be destroyed.
The 1m diameter stainless steel spherical buoy has a whip aerial, no sound signal and shows a light FL(5) Y20 sec.
All vessels, particularly those engaged in fishing, are requested to give the buoy a wide berth and keep a vigilant lookout in the area the buoy is moored in.
Radio Navigation Warnings will be broadcast until shipping becomes accustomed to the location of the buoy.
A further Marine Notice will be issued when the buoy has been recovered.
