IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MOTOR TRADE FROM THE ROAD SAFETY AUTHORITY (RSA)

Manufacturers, Modifiers, Converters, Repairers, Distributors and Traders of motor vehicles, their trailers and component parts.

Register now with the Road Safety Authority to keep in touch with development of regulatory code applicable to motor vehicles, their trailers and component parts.

The Road Safety Authority has responsibility for developing national regulations for motor vehicles intended for use on roads including regulations to transpose EU directives on motor vehicle type-approval.

If you are involved in any aspect of the Motor Trade you are likely to be effected by such regulations and the Authority wishes to consult with you on relevant proposals.

The Authority is currently drawing up a Register of persons to be consulted. To be included in this Register please send your name and business address to mariaosullivan@transport.ie or in writing to:

Director,

Road Safety Authority

Vehicle Standards Division

25 Clare Street

Dublin 2,

stating your business interest in motor trade. Please indicate whether you are a member of a representative Trade Association and whether consultation with this Association is sufficient for you.

In the short term the Authority will be consulting on a proposed new EU directive which, if adopted, will require new goods vehicles, buses, trailers and special purpose vehicles (e.g. ambulances, etc) to have whole vehicle type-approval (currently required only for new cars and motor cycles). Under the proposed directive manufacturers, modifiers, and converters of vehicles will have to have their stage of the vehicle construction type-approved in order to market the vehicles.
